Current conditions overview

    A ridge of high pressure will remain near the islands through the week as a series of cold fronts pass to the north. A series of large northwest swells will move through this week. A front is expected to pass through the islands toward the end of the week.

Pailolo Channel coastal water forecast

The Pailolo channel is between West Maui and Molokai. If you are staying at Maui Sands, it is the water right out front.

  • REST OF TODAY: Winds variable less than 10 knots. Wind waves 3 feet. Northwest swell 3 feet.
  • TONIGHT: East winds 15 knots. Wind waves 3 feet. Mixed swell northwest 3 feet and east 3 feet. Isolated showers.
  • TUESDAY: East winds 15 knots. Wind waves 2 feet or less then 3 feet in the afternoon. Mixed swell northwest 3 feet and east 3 feet. Isolated showers in the morning.
  • TUESDAY NIGHT: Winds variable less than 10 knots. Wind waves 3 feet in the evening then 2 feet or less. Mixed swell northwest 4 feet and east 4 feet. Isolated showers.
  • WEDNESDAY: East winds 15 knots. Wind waves 2 feet or less. Mixed swell northwest 5 feet and east 4 feet. Isolated showers.
  • WEDNESDAY NIGHT: South winds 10 knots backing northeast after midnight. Wind waves 2 feet or less. Mixed swell northwest 6 feet and east 4 feet. Isolated showers.
  • THURSDAY: Northeast winds 10 knots in the morning becoming variable less than 10 knots. Wind waves 3 feet. Mixed swell northwest 6 feet and east 4 feet. Isolated showers.
  • FRIDAY: North winds 10 knots becoming northeast 20 knots after midnight. Wind waves 3 feet. Mixed swell northwest 5 to 6 feet and east 3 to 4 feet. Isolated showers.
