Current conditions overview

    A very strong low pressure system developing north of the area will move north through Friday night, then dive south toward the area this weekend. This system likely will produce very hazardous, and potentially life-threatening, conditions across most Hawaiian waters, from late Friday into early next week.

Pailolo Channel coastal water forecast

The Pailolo channel is between West Maui and Molokai. If you are staying at Maui Sands, it is the water right out front.

  • TODAY: North winds 20 knots. Wind waves 7 feet. Northwest swell 6 feet increasing to 8 feet in the afternoon. Swell northeast 5 feet. Isolated showers in the morning, then scattered showers in the afternoon.
  • TONIGHT: North winds to 25 knots. Wind waves 10 feet. Northwest swell 8 feet and north 5 to 6 feet. Scattered showers.
  • SATURDAY: North winds 20 knots. Wind waves 6 feet. Northwest swell 8 feet and north 7 feet. Scattered showers.
  • SATURDAY NIGHT: West winds 15 knots. Wind waves 7 feet. Northwest swell 8 feet and north 7 feet. Isolated showers.
  • SUNDAY: West winds to 25 knots. Wind waves 12 feet. Northwest swell 8 feet and northwest 10 to 11 feet. Showers likely.
  • SUNDAY NIGHT: Northwest winds 20 knots. Wind waves 10 feet. Northwest swell 6 feet and northwest 11 feet. Showers likely.
  • MONDAY: West winds 15 knots. Wind waves 6 to 8 feet. Northwest swell 4 to 6 feet and north 9 to 10 feet. Scattered showers.
  • TUESDAY: West winds 15 knots. Wind waves 5 to 6 feet. Northwest swell 3 feet and north 9 to 10 feet. Scattered showers.
